About Us

Built for the Wild. Born from It.

Wild Coast Camping Gear is a Nova Scotia-based company founded by Peter and Trish van Delft. They didn't stumble into this business — they were shaped by it. By lives lived close to the land, far from convenience, and deeply connected to the kind of adventure that gets into your bones and stays there.

Trish grew up in the kind of place most people only read about — deep in the South African bush — so remote that their mail was dropped out of a Sesna, and her mum boiled water in a pot for hot baths. Her father ran a trading store in one of the most isolated parts of the country, and her mum raised five children miles from doctors, schools, and anything resembling "civilization." You don't grow up like that without developing a deep instinct for what matters — for quality, for resourcefulness, for gear that actually does what it promises when there's no one around to help if it doesn't.

Peter brings the vision, the stories, and an enthusiasm for the outdoors that's genuinely hard to contain. He's the kind of person who finds inspiration in a conversation with a stranger on the road just as easily as in a mountain vista. He has a gift for turning what he hears into something real: better products, better experiences, and a community that keeps growing because people feel at home in it.

The name "Wild Coast" comes from the rugged Indian Ocean coastline of South Africa — where Trish and Peter first encountered rooftop tents, long before anyone in Canada had heard of them. That moment planted a seed. Years later, settled in Nova Scotia and surrounded by some of the most beautiful wilderness in the country, they decided to bring that passion home.

Why Outdoor Gear. Why Us.

We didn't set out to build a gear store. We set out to share something we believe in — and to do it in a way that reflects how we were raised: quality over shortcuts, honesty over hype, and relationships that last longer than a single transaction.

Every product we carry has been used, tested, and genuinely stood behind. We only work with vendors who are willing to listen and make changes — because that's the only way to guarantee gear that holds up through a Canadian winter, a storm in the Cape Breton Highlands, or a week off-grid with no backup plan. If a vendor won't budge on quality, we find one who will. Simple as that.

Our lineup includes Bereg hot tents — expedition-grade four-season shelters with integrated stove ports, built for the kind of cold that makes most gear give up — alongside Savotta packs, Bundutec shelters, titanium stoves, and a carefully chosen range of accessories for overlanders, campers, and anyone who prefers their adventures on the harder side.

And then there are the Bereg Airboats — which are in a category entirely their own. Technically watercraft, but really built for wherever water ends and everything else begins: frozen lakes in January, marshy wetlands in July, shallow rivers that would stop any conventional boat dead. Powered by a rear-mounted engine and large propeller, they ride a cushion of air over surfaces that nothing else can touch — lightly, quietly, and without leaving a mark. Whether you're fishing, hunting, or just trying to get somewhere most people can't, a Bereg Airboat gets you there. It's exactly the kind of product we love — genuinely innovative, built for real conditions, and unlike anything else on the market.

Every product in our lineup earns its place. And if it doesn't meet our standard, it doesn't make the cut.

Built on Customer Stories

The stories our customers share are the reason we keep going.

There was the 78-year-old gentleman who called us from the road — he'd given up his apartment, bought a pickup truck with a cab, and was driving from Vancouver to Nova Scotia just to come and see us. We've had customers rebuild their trailers four times over, not because something went wrong, but because they love the craft and can't stop improving. Families write to tell us they sleep better in their Bereg tent than they ever do at home. Every one of those messages reminds us exactly why we started — and why we won't stop.

Nova Scotia Proud. Canada Ready.

We're based on Canada's East coast and proud of it. We serve adventurers from Cape Breton to British Columbia — and honestly, we're just getting started. Whether you're kitting out your first overlanding rig, upgrading your winter setup, or searching for gear built to last a lifetime, we're here to help you find it. Come and talk to us. We love this stuff — and we think you will too.
